Rice

Rice is a versatile and excellent side dish that is quick, easy, affordable, and provides a beneficial addition to your daily intake of essential micronutrients such as vitamin B6, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium. It is also filling making it good for weight loss.

Brown Rice vs White Rice

White Rice is actually Brown Rice just with the bran and Germ removed so because of this, is slightly less nutritious than Brown Rice but it is slightly faster to cook and many think it tastes way better.

While brown rice does have a slight edge over white rice in terms of nutrient content, with higher levels of fibre, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, the difference between the two are not substantial although Brown Rice may be better for anyone looking to keep blood sugar levels lower due to higher Magnesium levels and a lower GI.

Long Grain White Rice - 100g cooked - 120 calories

Brown Rice - 100g cooked - 122 calories

Although it may change slightly, a typical portion of rice would be 75g of uncooked rice which would produce around 205g of cooked rice for 230/240 calories.

You will find some tasty rice recipes in the recipe section although most of the time I use just plain rice for a side for things like Curry etc.
